The Wednesday Profile

Full Name: Ian Edward Gegenheimer

Nicknames: E, Eber, The Eradicator

Known Affiliations: Inventory Manager for Christopher Ranch LLC, Drummist for Cmn ineed yr hlp, Owner of a massive record collection, Smoker of Parliaments, Drinker of Diet Cokes, Uncle to Willis, Wearer of duct tape hats, Little Brother.

Origin of Relationship: Doing the old subtract nine months from the date of his birth thing to figure out when my parents first went about, uh, creating him, I’d say he entered the equation sometime around my Mom’s birthday in 1981. The first time I actually met him though was shortly after my parents brought him home from the hospital. The story goes that while they were bringing in the last of the luggage from the car I actually hid him under a bed. When my parents asked me where I put him I believe I said something to the extent of “What do you need him for? You already have me.”

Awesome Things He Does: Plain and simple, my little brother has a heart of gold. He is one of the sweetest and kindest people you will ever meet. He’s been dealt a couple of really shitty hands in life (being diagnosed with Diabetes as a teenager and being pretty much legally blind in one eye) but he’s never let it hold him back from doing anything or complained about it. When we were younger he was my very first roommate and ultimate Nintendo archrival. As we’ve gotten older his vast taste in music and proficiency as a drummer has both pushed and inspired me to heights I may never have reached on my own.

The relationship you have with your siblings is truly one of the most unique and special you will ever experience. Like any brothers, we had our share of fights when we were little (and I have a feeling that the 1 on 1 basketball games I used to force him to play in the backyard have probably forever quelled his interest in sports). But, it’s been nothing but smooth sailing since we both were in our teens.

My little brother has grown into an interesting, thoughtful, caring and all around awesome adult. And if I had any part in helping to make him all of the wonderful things he’s become, well then that makes me very proud.
